“London’s top notch festival” Time Out
The award winning RVT: HOT AUGUST FRINGE is a one-of-a-kind London performance festival running from the end of July to the end of August, Monday to Friday.
It’s a riot of stand-up, sketch comedy, cabaret, magic, burlesque, theatre and dance. The RVT: HOT AUGUST FRINGE sees three different shows a night tread the boards, presenting a unique experience in cutting-edge performance.
If you drop in you might see alternative cabaret followed by a sketch show followed by poetry; or a contemporary magic show alongside experimental theatre followed by a band. At the RVT we have never been one for conventions and have always embraced the idea of turning performance on its head, subverting it and defying expectations.

All welcome!
Our programme is eclectic and inclusive and everyone is welcome – from die-hard RVT regulars, to first-timers looking for a fantastic night out of entertainment, food, drink and great company.
The RVT: HOT AUGUST FRINGE will appeal to Londoners seeking to explore London’s rich cultural scene outside of the West End and offer performers, who find the cost of other fringe festivals prohibitive, an affordable alternative
This festival fits in with the long tradition of performance at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, dating back to 1863, and the surrounding Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens that go back even further. Since then, artists such as Lily Savage (Paul O’Grady), Julian Clary, Graham Norton, Justin Vivian Bond and others have performed at the venue.
